Adult Family Homes in Vancouver – Clark County, WA
What Is An Adult Family Home (AFH)?
Adult Family Homes (AFHs) in Vancouver, WA & throughout Clark County Washington are private residences that are licensed to provide housing, meals, and personal care services to adults who are unable to live independently. Unlike assisted living facilities, AFHs are owned and operated by licensed AFH “providers” who live with the residents they serve. In addition, AFHs are limited to a maximum number of residents.
Who May Reside In An Adult Family Home?
To reside in an adult family home, a person must meet the AFH “residency criteria,” which is defined by RCW (Revised Code of Washington) and WAC (Washington Administrative Code) regulations and by the provider’s admission policy. In most cases, AFH’s provide general supervision, assistance with personal care services, and assistance with medications to adults who require such services. This residency criteria generally falls into these categories: Dementia, Mental Health and Developmentally Disabled.
